The raw sound suits it fine and many old rock records by Jerry Lee Lewis et al were raw, even primitive sounding, and that is more authentic than over produced stuff like that of say, ELO. Sutch did not have a great voice nor was he a top songwriter but he was a tremendous performer and showman which comes across here. This works for sound and is exciting. Further, there is some supurb guitar work Page should be proud of.David Hamiltonhttp://davidhamiltonauthor.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727050478119226681.post-51708432885049126692012-07-14T03:22:01.035-07:002012-07-14T03:22:01.035-07:00I like this record which i have had in my record c...I like this record which i have had in my record collection for about the last 10 years and which i occasionally digout and play, granted it sounds a bit rough & ready but all the best rock & roll was in my opinion. There's an authenticity about this record and i find Lord Sutch an endearing if not eccentric character. Jimmy Page may have dis-owned his involvement on this record when it was originally released (in 1970) but he sounds alright to me, the other band that he was involved in at the sametime was too much up there own backsides for my tastes!!.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727050478119226681.post-55162441552260721842011-06-25T00:42:24.115-07:002011-06-25T00:42:24.115-07:00funny to find that the record was slammed so much,...funny to find that the record was slammed so much, it was re-released a few years ago on 180g vinyl by Sundazed. Ive got it and I like it a lot! True the sound quality is only average, but ive heard worse production quality. Ive always taken the album as tongue-in-cheek rock'n'roll and it sounds pretty good in that view.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
