After the tragic death of David Sutch in June 1999, The Savages carried on, performing revival circuits (tributes to Joe Meek and Screaming Lord Sutch), fronted by bass player Tony Dangerfield.
When they were his backing band, The Savages used to do an opening set about 30 minutes before Screaming Lord Sutch came on stage.

Sadly Tony Dangerfield, who worked alongwith David Sutch for more than Four decades, passed away in July 2007 and original bass player Ricky "Fenson" Brown was lined-up to take over bass duties but never performed with the band in this era.
The legendary band was lined-up to play at the Real Music Club, London in November 2008 but the gig was postponed 'til Summer 2009.
The Savages at the Boom Boom Club, Sutton, Friday July 24th 2009

The line up was:
Johnny Casanova.....Lead Vocal & Keyboards
Bob Banjo................Guitar

1st Savages gig post-Tony WAS with Nicky Simper, it was last August and we were on the bill with Dear Alan Clayson, I think it was at Sutton Utd's social club... Rick Brown was suggested for bass but I think Nick is up for it aside with his other band(s)...
The set at the Boom Boom club was rock'n'roll classics. Johnny Casanova & I were joined by Nicky Simper on Bass & Bob Banjo on guitar. Unfortunately, we were unable to have Anjie Antinori on guitar that night due to unforseen circs. We shared the bill with Alan Clayson & his Argonauts. Alan had asked if we could do this gig at an earlier date but for reasons I can't remember this was postponed 'til last August or September. This was the first gig in a while as the Savages and, unfortunately, the last one so far but this is now being worked on as we have some targets we would like to achieve. E.G. There's the 50th anniversary of the Savages and we will be recording & gigging to celebrate this fact.
